97.2fm!! AGAIN!

This is the second time Echomusic School got invited to perform live unplugged music on air! Thank you Leelian and 97.2fm for this opportunity!

Everyone was pretty nervous. But all of us learnt something through this performance. Esther got her first taste of performing at a radio station. Edmund and I stepped up to learn new songs in a time span of 3 three days before the show. Caleb spoke up a lot more as compared to the previous time. I would say it may not be the best performance, but it was definitely great effort seen in all of us.

Those who missed the show last Thursday and would really love to listen to us, the audio clip of the show will be posted up very soon!

happy faces!!!

Hope to hear you! Yes, you! To perform on the next live on air!

Esther's Foto Shoot + 97.2fm again!

Echomusic School is introducing a new course call the 'STAR program'. 'STAR' stands for Talent Actualization and Realization. Sounds good? In fact, it is an excellent program. The management team of the school had been planning and considering numerous factors before launching the course. Now we are so ready to roll. Curious to know what this course is all about? Check out the website now.

I have got one of the student Esther Tan under this STAR program to do some photo shoots for the website. I have invited Echomusic School's official stylist cum violin instructor Wendy Mama to do the makeup and hair for Esther. I am the supervisor cum adviser ( just stand there and talk). And man...she did a fantastic job again!

Wendy twist twist here and there...

Esther is a very sweet and pretty girl in nature...especially those dimples when she smile! We are afraid that too much makeup will take away the youthfulness and fresh look of hers. We just kept on trying unt
il we get the right look. The process is fun and satisfying.

Wendy....watch your hands!

Almost done.......

Ready to roll man!

Smile pretty pretty please!

After the photo shoot, Esther quickly settle down with Edmund to practice for the upcoming 97.2fm show. YES! Due to the great feedback of the previous show, we are invited back on air again!

Caleb is performing as well!

This time around, the two gentleman Edmund and Caleb are back by popular demand. The two girls will be the Esther and myself! How exciting! Catch us on air on 17 Jan 2008 at 8pm. We need your support!

Shanghai Blues...

A group of instructors are going to catch this musical together. You may want to consider too =)

In 1930s Shanghai, a man and a woman are brought together amidst war and chaos but fate wrenches them apart. When they finally meet after years of wistful longing, they find themselves unwittingly trapped in a love triangle. Will they pass this test of love, friendship and loyalty?

Mesmerising music, dazzling sets, and beautiful costumes. Be transported back to the glamourous era of old Shanghai in this bittersweet and delightful Chinese musical.

Written by acclaimed Hong Kong playwright Raymond To, directed by Toy Factory’s Chief Artistic Director Goh Boon Teck, and starring popular Hong Kong artist William So, as well as Singapore’s very own Mindee Ong (of 881 fame) and Emma Yong.

You may visit this website for more information.

How do you know? You can't stop the beat!

Oh man! This song is DA BOMB! I hope the Broadway Musical 'Hairspray' will come to Singapore very soon! The movie version totally rocks as well, it makes u wana move your feet!

You need to watch it.

This movie will brighten up your day. A typical fairy tale story with a modern twist. The acting and singing is brillant. I love love love it.

Oh Yes! Razzle it!

Our Singuitar instructor cum adminstrator Miss Simin recently formed a rock band! Don't be fooled by her unassuming and quiet personality, she is actually a rock chick at heart!

So cool~~

This band is formed with other good friends of Echomusic. The band name is called Razzle Play. I would say we all play a part contributing to the Chinese name of the band. Lastly, they decide on '讨闹派'. Yap...your right...it will sound a bit funny in Hokkien. But who cares! They are a bunch of crazy people, enjoys great fun and plays solid music!

This band just started performing just few months ago and they had been receiving nothing but great feedbacks. Personally, I like their self composition "隐形翅膀" very much. Visit their website at www.razzleplay.com to know them better. You can watch them at them in action at their youtube channel as well. With pretty boys and girls, great personality and tasteful music, Razzle Play is definitely the band to watch out for in 2008.

Rock on and have fun with Razzle Play!

Wow!

Congrats to our songwriting instructor Muxiong who sold his song to the Taiwan latest duo sensation -WOW. Hope he will continue to sell many many songs in 2008 and share his music all over the world!

Song Title: 对不起
Artist: WOW
Album: 头号人物

Christmas Batch Out!

This is an overdue post man! December is a month full of joyous events! The most memorable of all is of course...our very own student batch out!

Initially the school target at a figure of 50 turnout for the event, but we were so wrong! There was a turnout of 120 people that night at the White Tangerine Cafe! The response is overwhelming. On top of that, the weather is fabulous! I must say the night went pretty smoothly. The sad thing is I tried to make some roses for the performers which failed terribly!

We have got 17 performances that night by none other than our very own students. I am so sorry that I did not manage to take all the pictures of the performers that night as I was running around...but I got all the video clips...stay tuned for that.

MC of the night - Edmund Ng! He's good at it.

Yoshiko on her instrumental piece...

Peifen and Caleb with Ai Tai Yuan

Some jazz for night! Cheek to Cheek by Ryan+Rebecca

The aim of the gathering is to let students and instructors have the chance to mingle around and get to know each other better outside the classroom. It is also a chance for our students to have the opportunity to perform on stage. I know that it is like the first time performing on stage for many of the students. It is indeed an experience for all. Some did all the right things...some did all the right things during practise but not on the real thing itself. End of the day...it is the efforts that matter.

Denis had mentioned that there is no shortcut to improving...but practise and practise. For those who think they did well...do better next time! For those who think they did not do a great job...step up and improve on yourself. Life is all about experiencing and learning. We all start from zero. But I must comment that...the courage to step on the stage to perform is really commendable! Jiayou Jiayou and move forward ya!

Peiyuan who looks extremely happy...=p

Meiling who played the keyboard so well that night!

If there is a best outfit award...Pey Bin will be the winner! You look pretty pretty.

This is one of my favourite moments...the certificate presentation! It is a testimonial to the joint effort over the months which the students and instructors put in. I do not know the students felt upon receiving the certificates...but we feel so so proud for them. Especially for me...I will remember their faces when they first join the school....and the upcoming musicians they are going to be in the future. It truly means something to me.

Ok! Some other highlights...

My bosses...Denis+Simon and invited guest Ivan Da Ge

Don't you think they look soooooo alike?

Thank you Keith for the cake! It was very very delicious!

Zhang Yan got away with the first prize!

Hope everyone enjoyed that night as much as we do. We will look forward to the next one. Meanwhile....work hard!

Happy New Year!!

Happy new year peeps!
It is indeed a fruitful year of 2007 for Echo Music, especially in the festive month of December! We were involved in a series of events one after another!!
Right after our heart warming student gathering, our year of events ends with a date with DJ Cai Lilian, on her evening program on FM97.2.
Nervous was spelled on our faces, as it's for most of us, the first time on air, live! But I would say that Lilian did a good job of calming us down with her humorous, witty talks and her fast response to situations. All of us were much more relax by the middle to the end of the program. Well, the highlight of the show, had to be when Jesscia Liu peeped in to the studio. I think the guy's heartbeat stopped for a second there. haa..

Overall, well done guys and gals! Being your first time on air, fabulous singing!

visit our website's gallary for more photos
If you have missed it, not to worry! Visit our website and click on the Multimedia section to hear it!
More events coming your way!! Stay tuned for exciting year of 2008!!
